Alabama became the victors in January, and now the spoils are in.
The Crimson Tide's fourth national championship in seven years has resulted in raises for returning Nick Saban's assistants, plus the revelation of contracts for Saban's new hires, the program announced and AL.com compiled today.
Outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi has earned a promotion to co-defensive coordinator and along with it a raise from $425,000 to $550,000 annually.
Strength coach Scott Cochran inked another substantial raise from $425,000 to $525,000. This means Alabama will pay its strength coach more money than 19 FBS programs paid their head coaches in 2015.
New defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt has been signed to a three-year contract that will pay him $1 million annually. That's actually a step down from the $1.3 million he earned in the same position at Georgia last year, and a discount from the $1.5 million Alabama paid his predecessor Kirby Smart.
AL.com reported earlier Tuesday offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin will work this season on the final year of a three-year contract that pays him $714,000 this season (plus a $3.4 million buyout payment from USC).
Running backs coach and special teams coordinator Burton Burns leapt from $345,000 to $475,000, while assistant head coach/tackles and tight ends coach Mario Cristobal ($515,000 to $525,000) and wide receivers coach Billy Napier ($340,000 to $350,000) received modest raises.
Cochran received a three-year contract, while Burns, Cristobal and Napier signed two-year deals.
New hires offensive line coach Brent Key ($350,000 a year), secondary coach Derrick Ansley ($395,000) and defensive line coach Karl Dunbar ($275,000) also signed two-year contracts.
Saban's on-field staff will earn $4.63 million in 2016, down from the $5.27 million the 2015 group earned. According to USA Today's salary database, the change would drop the Tide from third to fourth nationally (also, amusingly, third to fourth in the SEC) using 2015 salary figures.
