Little more than five years ago, Beau Snuggs was an NCAA Division III football player.
Now, Snuggs is on the verge of becoming an NFL assistant coach.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Snuggs is departing his role on Lance Taylor's Western Michigan University staff to reunite with Chris O'Leary for the NFL's Los Angeles Chargers.
O'Leary recently was hired away from Western Michigan to return to the Chargers -- this time as Jim Harbaugh's defensive coordinator for the Southern California franchise.
Snuggs, per sources, will be a quality control coach with the Chargers, specifically working in the secondary with the Los Angeles safeties group.
He played collegiately at Carthage College and, upon completion of his playing career, the Charlotte, North Carolina, native joined the coaching staff of his alma mater.
Snuggs also has NCAA coaching experience at Football Championship Subdivision program Butler, as well as fellow FCS resident Eastern Illinois.
Snuggs joined the Western Michigan staff in February 2025, arriving shortly after Taylor tabbed O'Leary, his former Notre Dame colleague, to run the WMU defense.
Western Michigan responded with a break-through campaign under Taylor, who just completed his third season. The Broncos posted a 10-win campaign under Taylor in 2025, a season in which they captured the Mid-American Conference Championship and also won the Myrtle Beach Bowl.
