Just about five years ago, Kashif Moore was coaching at the Division III level at Wesleyan (CT), where he helped the Cardinals navigate the 2020 season that was ultimately cancelled due to COVID-19.
Now, just six seasons later, he's set to join one of the biggest stages in college football in the Big Ten.
Multiple reports share today that Moore, who had followed Jim Mora from UConn west to Colorado State, is Matt Campbell's choice to become the new receivers coach for the Nittany Lions.
FootballScoop can confirm.
The move marks a rapid rise for the young assistant. Following a few seasons at the high school level and that year at the Division III level at Wesleyan, Moore made the jump to the FCS level coaching the running backs at Cornell in 2021 before landing at UAlbany as the team's receivers coach for the 2022 season.
A former UConn standout, where he was not only a team captain as a senior but also lettered in four seasons and graduated ranked among the top 10 in school history in receptions, Mora brought Moore back to Storrs as receivers coach for the 2023 season.
The 2011 UConn team that competed against Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl featured Moore, who made four catches for over 60 yards against the Sooners in the program's first ever BCS appearance. He would go on participate in the 2011 NFL Combine before going on to sign contracts with the Bengals, Colts, Steelers, and Chiefs during his NFL career.
2025 marked his third season leading his former position group for his alma mater, where he helped lead one of the nation's top receivers in Skyler Bell, who was a finalist for the Biletnikoff after finishing #2 nationally in yards per game (98.3), receiving yards per game (1,278), third nationally in touchdown receptions (13), and was one of just four receivers in the nation with over 100 receptions on the year.
In making the move with Mora to Fort Collins, Moore added the title and responsibilities of pass game specialist to his duties working with the receivers.
For Matt Campbell, Moore replaces Noah Pauley who had been a part of Campbell's staff at Iowa State, but recently left to join the Green Bay Packers as their receivers coach.
