Cam Haney, a defensive quality control coach who just helped the Indiana Hoosiers win the program's first-ever College Football Playoff Championship, is joining up-and-coming Tulsa coach Tre Lamb's staff, FootballScoop has learned.
Per sources, Haney is set to become Tulsa's cornerbacks coach as Lamb, former head coach at Football Championship Subdivision programs Gardner-Webb and ETSU, transitions into his second year at Football Bowls Subdivision program Tulsa.
A former defensive back at Utah State during his playing career, Haney has previous stops working with Lamb -- including at ETSU before Haney was brought aboard Curt Cignetti's Indiana Hoosiers juggernaut that has won 27 of its past 29 games, made two consecutive CFP appearances and on Monday night outlasted Miami, 27-21, to win the program's initial national title in football.
Additionally, as Lamb retools for a run at bowl eligibility in 2026, sources tell FootballScoop that Dominique Franks is being positioned to take over the defensive passing game coordinator role while coaching the Golden Hurricane's nickels.
Franks, who starred at Oklahoma as a player, is a Tulsa, Oklahoma, native who spent several years in the NFL following his all-conference playing career with the Sooners, which culminated in the 2008 national championship.
Lamb was hired to turn around the Tulsa program after the 2024 season, when Lamb led ETSU to a winning record and Tulsa moved on from former Indiana head coach Kevin Wilson.
His first year featured an upset on the road of the Oklahoma State Cowboys, a contest that marked the last game for long-time OSU head coach Mike Gundy. The school fired Gundy three days after the loss.
Tusla closed last season 4-8 but posted key wins against both Army and Oregon State during Lamb's debut campaign.
The Golden Hurricane are scheduled to open their 2026 season at home, Sept. 5, against visiting Oklahoma State. The Cowboys will be led by first-year head coach Eric Morris, the former North Texas skipper. Tulsa also faces a road trip in the season's opening month to Southeastern Conference program Arkansas, which will feature new head coach Ryan Silverfield.
