Siddiq Haynes has helped mold the defensive lines at Jeff Traylor's UTSA program most of this decade, a period in which the Roadrunners have emerged as one of the top Group of Five programs in college football.
Haynes now is going to try to generate similar results in a new program.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Haynes is being hired as the defensive line coach in Tony Sanchez's New Mexico State program. Multiple additional media outlets also reported the news.
A former Delaware player, Haynes went immediately to work in his alma mater's athletics department upon completion of his playing career in 2010 and before ultimately transitioning into collegiate coaching little more than a decade ago.
He climbed from graduate assistant to full-time on-field assistant coach at Sam Houston State before Traylor hired him into the UTSA program after the 2020 season.
Haynes developed multiple all-conference selections, first at Sam Houston State and then with the Roadrunners. He's also helped players from both programs to become NFL Draft selections.
New Mexico State is seeking to take the next step forward under Sanchez, who closed the 2025 campaign with an 4-8 mark. New Mexico State lost four games by seven of fewer points last season.
The program is scheduled to open its 2026 season with a Week Zero contest Aug. 29 at Florida State.
