Sources: Bucknell adding FBS coach to offensive staff (Featured)

John Carroll University has been a model, powerhouse program in NCAA Division III athletics.

New Bucknell coach Jeff Behrman, arriving to take over the Bison program following his staunch success at John Carroll, quickly is adding some familiar faces to his inaugural staff.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Behrman is tabbing former John Carroll star player Joe Collins as Bucknell's running backs coach.

Collins arrives at Bucknell after spending the past season as a graduate assistant at Football Bowls Subdivision program Temple.

It's been less than three years since Collins concluded his playing days under Berhman, for whom he shined as an all-conference quarterback for John Carroll and posted an 16-4 record as a starter in the 2022-23 regular seasons combined.

Collins then logged the 2024 season on the Blue Streaks staff before he joined K.C. Keeler's inaugural staff at Temple, which closed 2025 with a 5-7. That mark was just one win fewer than the Owls had combined in the two years before Keeler's arrival.

Bucknell is hoping that Behrman can translate the success he had atop the John Carroll program in Berhman's first-ever Football Championship Subdivision head coaching job. The Blue Streaks went a combined 29-7 in their three seasons in which Behrman was the head coach.

The Bison closed their 2025 season at 5-7. They are scheduled to start the Behrman era on Aug. 29, 2026, in an FCS showdown against Richmond in college football's Week Zero.
