With Missouri's season over following its loss to Virginia in the Gator Bowl, outgoing offensive coordinator Kirby Moore is beginning to shape his staff as he takes over the Washington State Cougars program.
And multiple sources tell FootballScoop that Moore's inaugural Wazzu lineup is set to feature several of his former Missouri colleagues.
Most of Moore's initial wave of incoming Missouri staff members are on the offensive side of the ball, FootballScoop has learned.
Per sources, Moore is expected to bring with him Derham Cato, Jack Abercrombie and Andrew "Andy" Belluomini.
All three served various offensive coaching roles for Eli Drinkwitz's Missouri Tigers program in recent seasons.
Cato, with additional Southeastern Conference experience at Vanderbilt prior to his arrival at Missouri, worked closely with the Tigers' tight ends unit during his three seasons in Columbia, Missouri. Additionally, Cato has previous West Coast experience from also serving as an offensive assistant at the University of Washington.
He's a former Dartmouth standout defensive lineman who played professionally in multiple leagues, including NFL Europe and the Canadian Football League.
Abercrombie has worked closely with Missouri's offensive line in his second stint with the Tigers; he's also coached elsewhere in the SEC at Mississippi State and played a crucial role for the most successful season in the history of Football Championship Subdivision program VMI when the Keydets won the Southern Conference Championship.
Belluomini also has dual-experience at the Power Conference level. In addition to his run as a pass game specialist for the Missouri Tigers, Belluomini previously coached in the Big Ten Conference at Northwestern as well as in the SEC at the University of Florida. He's expected to again have a key role in Moore's offensive system at Washington State working in the passing game and with quarterbacks.
Finally, sources tell FootballScoop that Ella Guerrero -- a Baylor University graduate -- is exiting her role as Missouri's assistant director of on-campus recruiting for a similar role, likely as Washington State's director of on-campus recruiting, in Moore's program. She's been widely praised by her peers for her "detailed, highly organized" approach to handling all things recruiting during campus visits and prospect camps.
Moore is the first-time head coach returning to his Pacific Northwest roots. He's a Prosser, Washington, native who engineered a decorated collegiate playing career at Boise State, where his brother, current NFL head coach Kellen Moore of the New Orleans Saints, shined as a Boise State record-setting quarterback.
Kirby Moore was a wideout for the Broncos who played in 45 games and then immediately got a full-time collegiate coaching job upon the completion of his playing career.
He started at the College of Idaho, quickly landed at the University of Washington and then had three seasons on staff at Fresno State before he spent the past three at Missouri.
Kirby Moore was hired atop the Washington State program when then-Cougars head coach Jimmy Rogers departed for the top job at Iowa State. That move was facilitated when Matt Campbell departed the Cyclones to take over at Penn State.
