A break-through second season as head coach isn't leaving Gerad Parker content.
Instead, the Troy Trojans leader -- having just wrapped up an eight-win season including an appearance in the Sun Belt Championship game and bowl berth -- is looking to push the program further forward.
In that regard, multiple sources tell FootballScoop, Parker is preparing to shift the focus of his team's offense.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Parker and offensive coordinator Seth Reagan have mutually parted ways. The move comes as Reagan's two-year contract with the Troy football program nears its conclusion.
The Trojans started Year 2 under Parker with a strong 6-2 mark through the season's first eight games; they also held a double-digit lead early in the season in an eventual loss at Clemson.
But Troy was limited to 16 or fewer points in each of its six losses.
For the season, the Trojans averaged 23.5 points per game and just less than 100 yards rushing per contest.
The unit also was besieged by injuries; late in the season Troy missed multiple starters along its offensive line and quarterback Goose Crowder, a former West Virginia signee, was limited to eight games. Additionally, quarterback Tucker Kilcrease appeared in 11 games for the Trojans.
Parker and Reagan had previously worked together at West Virginia under Neal Brown. Reagan remained on Brown's staff through 2023 while Parker departed after the 2021 season to join Marcus Freeman's first Notre Dame staff.
There, Parker coached tight ends for a season and assisted in the offense's passing attack before he was elevated to the role of offensive coordinator prior to the 2023 season.
Parker helped the Irish to a 10-win season, the first of three in a row now for Freeman at Notre Dame.
A former University of Kentucky player, Parker was hired atop the Troy program after the 2023 season.
Following a four-win debut campaign as a head coach, Parker kept the nucleus of his team together -- notably losing a star wideout to Penn State in the NCAA Transfer Portal -- as well as the majority of his coaching staff to help fuel the 2025 turnaround.
The Trojans finished their 14-game season Dec. 16 in a 17-13 loss to in-state rival Jacksonville State in the Salute to Veterans Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.
Troy is slated to open Year 3 under Parker Sept. 5, 2026, against the Sam Houston State Bearkats.
