FootballScoop is proud to announce that Taylor Mouser (Iowa State) is the 2025 FootballScoop Tight Ends Coach of the Year presented by Teamworks.
The tight end position was always a staple of Iowa State's offense under Matt Campbell, and especially so in 2025 after the Cyclones lost Jaylin Noel and Jayden Higgins to the NFL.
Junior tight end Benjamin Brahmer led the Cyclones' air attack with 37 grabs, which went for 446 yards and a team-high six touchdowns. The Second Team All-Big 12 selection already sits in sixth place in Cyclones history for career receptions by a tight end and fifth in receiving yards, and has a clear opportunity to leave Ames as the second-best pass-catching tight end in school history should he return for his senior season.

Fellow junior Gabe Burkle finished fourth on the team with 26 grabs in nine games for 302 yards and a touchdown, while senior Tyler Moore (seven catches for 118 yards), freshman Cooper Alexander (five for 47), and junior Tripp Walsh (one for nine) rounded out the room.
Also Iowa State's offensive coordinator, Mouser guided a unit that gained 4,752 yards and scored 329 points across its 12 games this season. The Cyclones rushed for 2,096 yards and 23 touchdowns, while adding 2,657 yards and 16 scores through the air. Iowa State scored touchdowns on 62.8 percent of its red zone opportunities, a figure that finished fifth in the Big 12.

An Adams State graduate, Mouser began coaching in 2015 as a graduate assistant under Matt Campbell at Toledo. He followed in the same role at Iowa State and has steadily risen the ranks since then, serving as assistant director of scouting, a senior quality control coach for the offense, and then joining the on-field staff as tight ends coach in 2021. He added an assistant head coach title in 2023 and was promoted to offensive coordinator ahead of last season.
The FootballScoop Coaches of the Year awards presented by Teamworks are the only set of awards that recognize the most outstanding position coaches in college football. The finalists (Jarrett Anderson [Baylor], Todd Hartley [Georgia], Gavin Locklear [NC State], and Mouser) were selected based off of nominations by coaches, athletic directors, and athletic department personnel. The prior winners selected this year's winner.
Previous winners of the Tight Ends Coach of the Year award are Todd Hartley (Georgia, 2021 and '23), Freddie Whittingham (Utah, 2022), and Ty Howle (Penn State, 2024).
