High school stadium set to be built on top of parking garage

Texas and Georgia are undoubtedly home to some of the most expensive high school stadiums in the country, with new ones regularly carrying a price tag that tops $30 million, and it would be hard to top the scenery of ocean water lining both sides of the Barrow HS (AK) stadium.

Still, there are plenty of high schools in each state that could make the argument that their home filed has the best backdrop anywhere.

But there's one new school entering the conversation for the most unique high school football setup in America, and it takes the phrase "necessity is the mother of invention" to heart.

Executive Education Academy Charter School, a charter school located in Allentown, PA is set to become one of the only stadiums in the country to be on a rooftop of any kind.

The new 4,000 seat stadium is set to be built atop a parking deck with room to accommodate 300 cars.

The school shares an easement with Lehigh County and the minor league IronPigs team, whom they share a parking lot with, thus sparking the need for a creative solution. The baseball team wasn't crazy about giving up a bunch of parking to make room for a stadium, and EEAC was willing to get creative to solve the problem

The team initially had some reservations about traffic and construction impacting their baseball season, but those have since been addressed, according to WFMZ.

Construction of the parking deck is scheduled to be completed by March, and six months of stadium construction will follow that. In addition to being able to hold 4,000 fans, the stadium will connect directly to the high school, and also have a turf field, concessions stands, and a press box as one would expect.

We previously profiled a high school with a similarly unique setup.

Union City HS (NJ) needed to build a new stadium back in 2009, and they encountered a problem finding the space they needed.

The solution? Thinking well outside the box, the school decided to put the stadium on top of the school, making for one of the most unique settings in the country for a high school game of any kind.

Below is what the Executive Education Academy stadium will look like once it is finished.
