Tony Elliott’s Virginia Cavaliers scored their biggest of his tenure last Friday night in a stirring, double-overtime upset of previously top-10 and undefeated Florida State.
Turns out, the Cavs also had an ACC win of sorts off the field of play.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Elliott & Co. have nabbed Cody Martin away from league foe Wake Forest, and Martin already has arrived in Charlottesville, Virginia, as the Cavaliers’ new director of player personnel.
It’s a strong addition for Virginia, which is seeking a breakthrough-season under Elliott, the former Clemson star assistant coach.
The Cavs cracked into the national rankings this week ahead of a daunting showdown at ACC rival Louisville, which enters off of its own impressive comeback-win at Pittsburgh.
Martin had spent three full seasons at Wake Forest, serving in a scouting director role as well as the director of offensive personnel.
Martin’s regarded for having on-field coaching experience as well as personnel abilities. He coached wideouts while on staff at New Mexico State for seven years. He is a Kent State graduate.
