Kirby Smart and Georgia reportedly adding veteran SEC assistant to staff (Featured)

Kirby Smart is adding a well traveled defensive veteran to his coaching staff in Athens.

According to CBS Sports, Jimmy Brumbaugh is joining the Dawgs coaching staff.

The veteran defensive assistant spent the past two seasons on staff at Coastal Carolina coaching the Chanticleers defensive line, but brings with him a number of stops at  SEC, Big Ten and ACC programs.

Brumbaugh has twice held co-coordinator titles, first at Maryland for two seasons in 2017-18 and then again in 2020 on Jeremy Pruitt's Tennessee staff.

Outside of a few seasons on the LSU strength staff, Brumbaugh's experience has been working with the defensive line in varying capacities.

Before joining the Chants staff, he spent a season at Auburn as the defensive line coach and was a defensive analyst at Oregon for a season before that.

With a career history full of one and two-year stops, Brumbaugh's longest stay since starting in the coaching profession two decades ago as a student assistant at Jacksonville State in 2004 has been a four-year stay as the defensive line coach at Kentucky.

Additional spots include Louisiana Tech, Syracuse, East Mississippi CC (JC), and Colorado in addition to the previously mentioned stops.
