QB Pressure in 2.42 Seconds: The 3rd Down Pressure System That Navy, JMU & Rutgers Are Using to Disrupt Offenses: This time last off-season, only a handful of programs utilized three-to-a-side loaded presentations on 3rd down, but now they're widespread across college football, with East Carolina, James Madison, Navy, and Rutgers majoring in these looks. The researchers at X&O Labs analyzed 279 third-down mandatory pass situations, revealing the remarkable effectiveness of these loaded presentations: 47.7% resulted in QB pressure, with an average time to pressure of just 2.42 seconds, and 28.57% of pressures came from unblocked defenders. In an exclusive research report, X&O Labs reveals the movement patterns affecting both slide and man sides of protection, comparing efficiency rates of field vs. boundary loaded fronts, interior (A-B gaps) vs. exterior (C-D gaps) pressure movements, and identifying the most efficient time-to-pressure techniques against various protection schemes, including specific pass rush moves for one-on-one situations with tackles.
