San Jose State: San Jose State University Athletic Performance Department is now accepting applicants for the 2014 Fall Semester internship program. The Fall internship program will begin August 25th and run through December. Three (3) qualified candidates will have the opportunity to advance their competence while gaining knowledge and experience in the field of Athletic Performance at a Division 1A institution. Responsibilities for positions are to assist AP staff with all daily maintenance and operational duties, involvement in volunteer/intern professional development program, as well as other duties assigned by the Head Athletic Performance Coach. Applicants should be pursuing or have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field and be certified by NSCA, CSCCa, USAW or in the process of sitting for one of the exams. Applicants must have a strong desire to be involved in Athletic Performance at the collegiate level; proficient in Microsoft Excel; excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; must be diligent and willing to learn; adhere to all university, conference and NCAA regulations. Western Kentucky: Western Kentucky University has hired Dominic Reno (brother of Yale head football coach Tony Reno) as an assistant strength coach. Reno will work with the football program.
Southern Miss: The University of Southern Mississippi Strength and Conditioning department is seeking applicants to fill Volunteer internship positions for the 2014 Fall semester, beginning as soon as possible. Daily responsibilities will include the following: 1. Assisting with supervision and implementation of strength training programs for various sports 2.Tending to daily maintenance of the training facilities 3. Any other duties specified by the Director of the program. This is a non-paid position. Qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, and a strong desire to become a Collegiate level Strength and Conditioning Coach.
