,The ultimate carrot for every football recruiter (in FBS, at least) is the NFL. The closer a head coach can associate himself with The League, the easier his job gets.
That said, appearing on NFL Network's draft coverage has become a plum spot to advertise your program. Only the biggest of big names get invited, guys like Brian Kelly, Les Miles and Mack Brown are just a few of the names to have appeared previously.
With the draft just six days away (at long last), NFL Network has announced this year's guests analysts are Jimbo Fisher, Urban Meyer and David Shaw.
Shaw also appeared on NFL Network's 2013 draft coverage, Meyer has extensive experience as an analyst on ESPN, and Fisher, of course, is the coach of the defending national champions. It's a nice cross-section of coaches for NFL Network, too. There's a good chance at least one of the three coaches either recruited or coached against every noteworthy name hailing from an FBS school - if they didn't already coach them on their own teams.
And again, it's great advertising for the Seminoles, Buckeyes and Cardinal. As impressionable (and talented) 15-year-olds watch the draft and see Roger Goodell, the NFL logo, and Fisher/Meyer/Shaw, it becomes much easier to associate each of those programs with a path to the NFL. At least that's the hope.
