UNLV has one thing going for it that no other program in the country can match, and it's in the last two letters of its name. Las Vegas.
There's a plan in place where the Rebels could take total advantage of their surroundings by building a brand-new stadium adjacent to the infamous Las Vegas Strip.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the UNLV Foundation plans to purchase a 42-acre plot of land at Koval Lane and Tropicana Avenue for $50 million and then transfer that to the university. The plan would be to then build a $523 million, 45,000-seat stadium on the property, though UNVL president Len Jessup says the university wants the land even if the stadium deal falls through.
How close to the Strip are we talking? Take a look:

The original plan for UNLV's stadium was nixed by the FAA because of flight plan complications it would have created for McCarran International Airport.
A McLane Stadium-like rendering for a new UNLV stadium can be seen at the Review-Journal's site. We'd embed it here but the picture looks like it was intended for ants.
