Monmouth (NJ): Monmouth University located in West Long Branch, NJ is accepting applications for Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Interns. This is an unpaid position. Interns will have the opportunity to gain college credit towards graduation, if applicable, as well as valuable professional experience in the field of strength & conditioning at the D1 (FCS) collegiate level. Duties include: assisting with design and implementation of sport-specific training programs for 23 varsity sports (including football) through strength training, plyometric training, speed and agility, flexibility, and conditioning. Duties also include teaching proper technique and safety, serving as a source of information on fitness-related issues, set up and break down equipment, upkeep and maintenance of the varsity weight room, learn proper communication with coaches, student-athletes, and sports medicine staff, enforce the rules and philosophy of the athletics department, serve as a positive role model for all student-athletes, and any other duties assigned by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Applicants must be highly motivated and energetic, and have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. Preferred qualifications include CPR/First Aid Certification, current work toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or in a related field, and have completed or are working toward CSCS or SCCC certification. Middle Tennessee State: Middle Tennessee State University Strength & Conditioning Department is accepting applications for volunteer interns to assist with both football and Olympic sports during Fall Semester 2015. We are looking to fill these positions as soon as possible. The candidate/s will work a minimum of 30 hours per week. Responsibilities include assisting with daily operations, administrative and maintenance duties, and various assignments as directed by the strength staff. This is an unpaid internship, with no compensation or housing provided. Interns will receive experience working for a Division I University and have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities. Intern/s will receive professional work experience and develop skills to become a successful strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate and professional level. Interns must be highly motivated, have a strong work ethic, and have an interest in the strength and conditioning field. The Director of Strength and Conditioning is also a Master Strength and Conditioning Certified Coach through the CSCCa and an approved mentor. After a 640-hour internship is completed at Middle Tennessee State University the interns will be eligible to sit for the SCCC exam at the CSCCa conference the following May. Prairie View A&M: Prairie View A&M University Strength and Conditioning is now accepting applications for Strength and Conditioning internship for the Fall 2015 Semester. ** This is a NONPAID position**The applicant(s) should be highly motivated, must commit to a minimum of 20 hours a week, have a strong work ethic, very reliable, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Valdosta State: Valdosta State University is looking for qualified strength and conditioning interns for the Fall 2015 semester. The internship will begin August 10- December 16, 2015. Preferred qualifications: Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in exercise physiology or related field; NSCA-CSCS or USAW certifications; CPR certification. One year of previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletics experience is preferred. Compensation: Division II Intercollegiate experience; an earned recommendation toward further success as a Strength & Conditioning Coach; Please be aware that there will be NO monetary compensation, nor housing offered for this position. Duties will include, but are not limited to: assisting staff in the implementation of strength and conditioning programs for the VSU athletic teams; set up, and breakdown of training equipment; as well as assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the facility. Minimum Qualifications: Strong work ethic, and highly motivated; preferred candidates are to be in a Bachelor’s degree program geared towards Exercise Physiology or a related field; experience in a college strength & conditioning setting or have previous collegiate athletics experience is preferred.
