Cal: The University of California Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for a Volunteer Intern for the Fall of 2014. The internship begins August 18th and ends December 12th. This is an unpaid position, however, this position offers an opportunity for advancement in the field of strength and conditioning through future recommendation along with coaching apparel and the opportunity to eat at daily team meals. The intern that is selected will also accumulate internship hours toward CSCCa Certification under a certified mentor. The position involves a comprehensive intern curriculum in addition to the daily responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, assistance in the supervision of the Cal Football team, set up and breakdown for daily strength and conditioning activities, routine maintenance, cleaning and organization of the training facility. Prerequisites include completion of a Bachelors’ Degree along with, preferably, collegiate athletic experience. Appalachian State: Appalachian State University is accepting applications for Fall 2014 Strength and Conditioning Interns. This is an UNPAID internship. Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division I FBS S&C environment. Daily tasks include but are not limited to: assisting with set up and break down of equipment; daily clean up and maintenance of the weight room; assist with supervision and demonstration during training. Applicants must be highly self-motivated, able to follow directions, possess excellent communication skills, have a desire to learn, and have an extremely strong work ethic. Qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/AED/First Aid, adapt to demanding schedule, and a strong desire to become a Strength and Conditioning Coach. At the end of the semester long internship volunteers will have a better understanding of program design, have the potential to earn recommendations for future opportunities, and if applicable receive college credit. Valdosta State: Valdosta State University is currently accepting applications for volunteer Strength & Conditioning (S&C) internship positions. The internship will last for the duration of the fall semester. These are unpaid positions. Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division II S&C environment with exposure to training, programming, and coaching. Other benefits include possible future references, course credit, and gear when available. Minimum requirements include certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid, a strong work ethic, a desire to become an industry professional, the ability to adjust to a demanding work schedule, and effective communication skills in a group setting. Preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body, (NSCA, ACSM, USAW, CSCCa, etc.), previous intern or coaching experience, personal involvement in a competitive sport, and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. Responsibilities will include daily, weekly, and semester long professional development assignments, facility maintenance, and other tasks as designated by the S&C staff.
