When recruits declare the school they'll attend the next 4-5 years, it's customary to don the school's hat to make the announcement official. That's followed soon thereafter by a few flashes from camera's and plenty of questions from the adoring media in attendance.
Although it's not clear how it played out, one of Northern Arizona's recruits took an alternate route to make his decision official. Even if this recruit didn't have a giant press conference, complete with the overalls, beard, and hatchet, I still would have loved to be in NAU's staff room when they saw this pic on Twitter.
There have been plenty of cookie cutter pictures making their way around Twitter today, but this has to be the National Signing day picture of the day so far, courtesy of Mountain Pointe HS offensive line coach Aaron Frana.
UPDATE>>We understand that the recruit made his decision official a few weeks ago, and just wore the outfit to show his support for the NAU Lumberjacks on signing day. I love it!
I sincerely hope that NAU distributes these beards at games like most programs used to hand out/sell foam fingers.
UPDATE>> More than one recruit got in on the action.
