Rice: Ryan Tedford has been named head strength and conditioning coach for the Owls. Tedford joins the program after spending the last few years at Virginia, including the last two seasons as the Cavaliers director of football training and player development.
Wyoming: The University of Wyoming Sports Performance Department is now accepting applications for FALL 2016 VOLUNTEER INTERN positions (2). Application review will begin immediately. Job Description: Assist the sports performance staff in all day-to-day operations of the University of Wyoming weight rooms. Duties will include but are not limited to; assisting staff in the implementation of strength and conditioning programs for All Sports, setup and breakdown of training equipment and assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the facility. Interns must also complete all requirements assigned through the intern education program. Qualifications: Pursuing a Bachelors or Master’s Degree in exercise science or a related field. Experience in a collegiate setting, and a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level. Prospective interns must pass a background check to be eligible for the position. Certification or working towards certifications with the NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa, and/or USAW is preferred. Compensation: This is an UNPAID POSITION. Class credit toward graduation requirements from your current institution, weekly structured education sessions, the opportunity to learn from five experienced strength and conditioning coaches, including a Master Strength & Conditioning Coach and the potential to earn future recommendations. Sul Ross State (D-III - TX): Sul Ross State University has an opening for a Sports Performance Graduate Assistant for the 2016-17 academic year. Position responsibilities include coordinating with head coaches and the Director of Sports Performance to design and implement comprehensive training programs for multiple teams, coordinating with Athletic Trainer to help athletes successfully return from injury, overseeing maintenance and cleanliness of the weight room, and other responsibilities as designated by the Director. After the initial orientation period, the Graduate Assistant will be expected to operate apart from the Director much of the time, so an independent, creative, problem-solving self-starter will be most successful. Position will begin no later than August 22 nd (earlier is preferred) and run until early May 2017. Position will include an in-state tuition designation and a monthly stipend of $777 for 9 months. The successful applicant will be responsible for paying for housing and tuition. Some meals may be included. Serious applicants only. Applicants should be aware of the financial commitment. After paying for school, this position is closer to an unpaid internship in terms of compensation. However, the graduate assistant will have the opportunity to be the Head Sports Performance Coach for multiple teams and take advantage of Sul Ross State’s 1-year, online Master’s program. Required: CSCS or USAW- 1 certification (or planning to become certified before the school year begins); Bachelor’s degree; CPR/AED/First Aid certification; Coaching experience preferred, collegiate playing experience will be considered also.
