One of the most well-known names in high school football will spend the 2016 season on the sidelines.
The Georgia Professional Standards Commission has suspended Colquitt County High School head coach Rush Propst for the year for head-butting a player during Georgia's Class 6A state semifinals last December.
Propst has appealed the suspension.

Propst can argue his case in front of the 18-member Professional Standards Commission, though arguing to a board of high-ranking educators the head-butt they see on camera isn't what it looks like on the clear, virally-distributed video seems like an uphill climb.
For what it's worth, though, Propst was not punished by Colquitt County or the Georgia High School Assocation. Colquitt County rallied to win its semifinal game over Mill Creek and then defeat Roswell for the state title a week later.
Propst holds a career record of 265-83 with seven state championships spread between Alabama and Georgia.
