According to a report from The Oklahoman, a two-year contract will be voted on by the Board of Regents Friday for head coach Mike Gundy.
Gundy has led the program for a total of 12 seasons, highlighted by 11 and 12-win seasons in 2010 and 2011, respectively. In over a decade leading the program, Gundy has failed to hit the seven-win mark just once, and that was his first season as the head coach in Stillwater.
The Cowboys have made a bowl game every season dating back to 2006 under Gundy's leadership, and are coming off a ten-win 2015 season that saw Gundy's Cowboys lose to Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl.
Overall, Gundy has an impressive 94-47 record and currently has four years left on the eight-year deal he signed back in 2011 that was worth about $30 million in total. The Oklahoman notes that if approved, the extension would go into effect July 1st and keep Gundy in Stillwater through the end of 2021.
According to USA Today's Coaching Salary Database, Gundy made $3.65 million last season.
When you take a look at Gundy's body of work, it's tough to see this deal not getting done at the end of the day.
