North Dakota State: The North Dakota State University Strength & Conditioning Department is actively seeking interested students to fulfill UNPAID internship positions (football and Olympic sports) within our program for summer 2014. Interns can expect to gain valuable, hands on experience in areas such as program design, exercise instruction, plyometric, speed and agility techniques, conditioning, facility and athlete management. Internship responsibilities will vary and will include various duties within the NDSU Strength & Conditioning Department. Hours will vary throughout the summer and may include early morning, late afternoon, or weekend hours. The quality of the interns experience is directly related to the effort and commitment that is put forth. Student’s who ask questions, get involved and make an effort to go above and beyond will be rewarded with a successful experience. Requirements: Graduate or undergraduate students working towards a degree in exercise science or a related field. Must have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. Previous weight room or athletic experience preferred. Compensation: Academic credit only, this is an unpaid internship. San Diego: The University of San Diego is accepting applications for VOLUNTEER UNPAID INTERN COACHES to contribute to the Athletic Performance department. Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to gain coaching experience with all 17-sport teams and assist the staff in the implementation of the individualized, sport specific, comprehensive injury prevention and performance enhancement programs. Required qualifications include achievement or current pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related course of study in addition to current CPR/AED certification and the successful completion of a background check. This internship is expected to begin no later than Monday, June 2nd 2014, and requires a 6-month time commitment, summer only time commitments will be considered based on availability. Illinois State: Illinois State University Sports Performance, an NCAA Division I institution, is seeking two full-time UNPAID interns for the summer 2014. These individuals will serve as primary assistants for Football as well as several Olympic sports. Full-time Interns must possess a strong work ethic, a desire to excel in the field of strength and conditioning and have a strong strength training background. Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting the Sports Performance staff in developing and administering all phases of speed, strength and conditioning programs to 19 varsity sports. The individuals will serve as top assistants for select varsity sports as assigned by the Director of Sports Performance. Qualifications: Must be working towards a degree in the field of exercise science or similar. Individuals must possess or be working towards a CSCS, and additionally have the option of completing the internship practicum for the CSCCa Examination.
