After flirting with a number of NFL head coaching jobs over the last few off seasons, Cincinnati offensive coordinator Jay Gruden has agreed to become the next head coach of the Washington Redskins.
Jay was a four-year letterman at Louisville (1985-1988), where he still ranks in the top five in school history in passing yards, completions, and touchdowns. After his career at Lousiville, he went on to win four Arena Bowl titles with the Tampa Bay Storm. His coaching career has included stints in the Arena League (Nashville Kats, Orlando Predators), and United Football League (Florida Tuskers), before joining the Bengals as offensive coordinator in 2011.
During the regular season, the Bengals ranked 10th in total yards per game (368 ypg), 8th in passing yards per game (259 ypg), and 18th in rushing yards per game (110 ypg).
Gruden is expected to be officially announced this afternoon at a press conference.
