FAU: The Florida Atlantic University Strength & Conditioning department is accepting applications for the position of Volunteer Intern for the Fall 2014 semester (Aug.18th-Dec.12th). Compensation: Division I Intercollegiate experience; an earned recommendation toward further success as a Strength & Conditioning Coach; as well as college credit toward graduation, if applicable. Please be aware that there will be NO monetary compensation, nor housing offered for this position. Duties will include, but are not limited to: assisting staff in the implementation of strength and conditioning programs for all FAU sports; set up, and breakdown of training equipment; as well as assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the facility. Minimum Qualifications: Strong work ethic, and highly motivated; must be in a Bachelor’s degree program geared towards Exercise Physiology or a related field; experience in a college strength & conditioning setting. Preferred Qualifications: Working towards a Graduate’s degree in a program geared toward Exercise Physiology or a related field; working towards a nationally-accredited strength & conditioning certification (SCCC, CSCS, USAW, etc.); knowledge/experience working with Microsoft Excel. University of Wisconsin-River Falls: The UW-River Falls athletic performance department is seeking highly motivated individuals for a ten month Athletic Performance Internship starting August 1st 2014 and finishing May 31st 2015. This ten month intern position is designed for recent graduates looking to gain experience which includes a $5000-$8000 contract to be paid in monthly stipends, work/athletic apparel, opportunities to travel for professional development, and potential to earn extra income working campus jobs. Required Qualifications: Must have a strong work-ethic and a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or a related field, current CPR/AED certification, and successful completion of the University of Wisconsin System background check. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience playing or coaching college athletics; certification from one of the following NSCA, CSCCA, or ACSM. Applications will be reviewed immediately. Houston: The University of Houston Sports Performance Department is now accepting applications for Volunteer Interns for the Fall of 2014. These are unpaid positions. Daily responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, assistance in the supervision of the University of Houston Sports Performance team set up and breakdown for daily strength and conditioning activities, routine maintenance, cleaning, and organization of the training facility. Characteristics desired of an intern include great work ethic, strong desire to enhance knowledge of strength and conditioning, attention to detail, punctuality, and accountability.
