Back in late June, a guy named Matty Roberts started a "Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us" Facebook event as a joke, identifying September 20th, 2019 as the target date. To nearly everyone's surprise the event went viral after a few days, spawning people to weigh in with everything from meme's to attack plans on the secret government base.
The popularity of the event prompted a response from the government stating, in part that the area "is an open training range for the U.S. Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces", before adding, "The U.S. Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets".
While the event has since been removed from Facebook, and Roberts has publicly stated a number of times that the event began as a joke and there is no real plan to overtake Area 51, as September 20th draws closer there are clearly still a lot of people planning to participate in the raid.
Mike Leach, college football's foremost expert in the extraterrestrial and all things strange, was asked about the planned Area 51 raid during his press conference yesterday and weighed in as only he can.
First, asked what he thinks goes on at Area 51, Leach answers:
"I think they test things there. I think...stuff that the military and government is developing, I would imagine they test it there. Work with the prototypes and things like that there. If they have found space men, or any type of Roswell stuff, that would probably be where they would store it, if there are such things."
Asked then if he would ever storm Area 51, Leach shared, "No, I don't think that would be a good idea because then they might just test out the stuff they've been testing there on you to ensure that you don't get in there.
Leach goes on to share some rather brief thoughts on his belief in aliens and what they should do with all the people that show up for the raid instead. Hear those thoughts in the video.
