One of DJ Durkin's first tasks as the head coach at the University of Maryland was to address his new team, and he did it with the same type of enthusiasm that helped him land the head coaching job.
Maryland provided an All-Access look at Durkin's first day with the video above.
"We're in this thing together. I mean it when I say that. I willingly chose to come here. I know the talent that we have in this room, and we are going to win here. Get it in your mind right now."
"You can't stop a room full of guys that are motivated and have a chip on their shoulder, and remember what has been said about you. It's been said that you can't do it. People have told me that it can't happen here. People have told me that the competition is too great. You tell me what stops a room full of guys, arm in arm that are on the same page, getting after it?" Durkin asked the team in that first team meeting.
From there Durkin faced the media at his presser, and then went to a photo shoot, and met with the rest of the athletics staff to wrap up a whirlwind of a day.
The video wraps up with the following quote he shared with the team in that morning meeting.
"We will win with numbing repition here. It's not going to be easy, but I'll tell you right now that you'll have the tools to go win, we'll have the schemes to go win. We will be aggressive in everything that we do, and that starts right now."
