UCF: The University of Central Florida Sports Performance department is now accepting applications for 3-5 open positions for the summer 2018 internship program starting the beginning of June and lasting through the beginning of August with the opportunity to continue into the fall semester. This internship is for Olympic sports and football. Selected individuals should expect to gain experience working with all sports at the University of Central Florida. Applicants should be highly motivated, eager to learn, and possess the desire to be involved with high-level collegiate athletics. Applicants should be working toward a degree in Exercise Science, or hold an undergraduate degree in the respective field and be working towards an accredited certification (CSCS or SCCC). This is strictly a VOLUNTEER internship. There will be no monetary compensation for this position; however, selected individuals should expect to receive valuable experience with various Division 1 athletic programs. Interns will also earn a letter of recommendation at the completion of the internship (contingent upon performance). Applications will be taken until the positions are filled. Monmouth (NJ): Monmouth University, located in West Long Branch, NJ is accepting applications for Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Interns. This is an unpaid position that will work with ALL SPORTS (including football). Interns will have the opportunity to gain college credit towards graduation, if applicable, as well as valuable professional experience in the field of strength & conditioning at the D1 collegiate level. Duties include: ACTIVE coaching during all training sessions, participation in the intern curriculum, teaching proper technique and safety, set up and break down of equipment the varsity weight room/on the field, enforce the rules and philosophy of the athletics department, serve as a positive role model for all student-athletes, and learn proper communication with coaches, student-athletes, and sports medicine staff. Applicants must be highly motivated, energetic, and have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. Preferred qualifications include CPR/First Aid Certification, currently working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or in a related field, and have completed or are working toward a CSCS or SCCC certification. Georgia Southern: Georgia Southern University Football Strength and Conditioning Department is looking to fill three to four (3-4) summer VOLUNTEER assistant positions. All positions are unpaid (no monetary compensation). To be in consideration for the position, the potential candidates must have their CPR/AED certification. The successful candidates will assist with all daily duties as it pertains to Georgia Southern Strength and Conditioning including but not limited to: data tracking, data entry, supplementation, and any other duties as assigned by the Director of Strength and Conditioning. The successful candidates will also partake in a weekly internship development course curriculum. The curriculum is centered on preparing the successful candidates to excel in their next step in the field through teaching and providing networking opportunities. Start date (in Statesboro, GA) is flexible(mid May). There will be potential of retention through fall camp and the 2018 football season.
