Texas Tech: The Texas Tech University Football Strength and Conditioning Department is currently seeking two qualified candidates to fill internship positions. Candidates must possess loyalty, a genuine interest in pursuing a career in the profession, strong work ethic, dedication, and a team oriented growth mindset. Job duties will include (1.) assisting primarily with the daily operations of the football strength and conditioning program, (2.) facility maintenance and upkeep, (3.) equipment set up and break down for all training sessions, and (4.) participation in an extensive staff and professional development series. This is an unpaid internship with an expected commitment which begins January 11, 2019 and ends May 10, 2019. The opportunity offers experience for advancement in the profession and potential credit towards degree completion as applicable. This internship is also approved as a CSCCa mentorship site under the supervision of a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach. Preferred qualifications for the position consist of the candidates being CPR/AED/First Aid certified and having or working towards the SCCC or CSCS credential. Houston: University of Houston OLYMPIC Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for interns for the FALL 2018 and SPRING 2019 academic semesters. This is a volunteer, UNPAID, position and offers Division I hands-on coaching experience in an educational environment and the opportunity for future recommendations or opportunities in the field of strength and conditioning. Responsibilities will include: assist the OLYMPIC Strength and Conditioning staff; set-up and breakdown of sessions; cleaning and upkeep of facility; spotting and working with specified student-athletes and/or small groups; assist with daily administrative and maintenance duties; and participate in weekly projects and assignments for the duration of the internship. Minimum Qualifications: must have a strong work-ethic, enthusiasm, a desire to develop the characteristics necessary to become a successful strength and conditioning coach, and able to work 30 hours/ week. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field and pursuing CSCS or relevant certification from one of the following: NSCA, CSCS; CSCCA, SCCC; USAW and CPR –First Aid certification. Monmouth (NJ): Monmouth University, located in West Long Branch, NJ is accepting applications for Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Interns. This is an unpaid position that will work with Football, Basketball, and assigned Olympic sports. Duties include: coaching during assigned sessions, participation in the intern curriculum, teaching proper technique and safety, set up and break down of equipment the varsity weight room/on the field, enforce the rules and philosophy of the athletics department, serve as a positive role model for all student-athletes, and learn proper communication with coaches, student-athletes, and sports medicine staff. Included within the curriculum is hands-on experience with the Polar Heart Rate monitoring systems. Applicants must be highly motivated, energetic, and have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. Preferred qualifications include CPR/First Aid Certification, currently working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or in a related field, and have completed or are working toward a CSCS or SCCC certification. Fairleigh Dickinson: Fairleigh Dickinson University- Florham Strength and Conditioning Department in Florham Park, NJ is accepting applications for UNPAID Internship Positions for the 2018 Fall Semester. FDU-Florham is a Division III Institution that participates in the MAC Conference. This position will work hands on with 19 sports teams. Responsibilities include: assist staff with set-up and breakdown of lift sessions; cleaning and upkeep of the facility; spotting and coaching athletes. Assist with administrative duties and maintenance of equipment. Participate in weekly projects and assignments. Minimum Qualifications: Strong work ethic, desire to become a Strength and Conditioning Coach. Candidate must have or be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree and an NSCA:CSCS or USAW and CPR/AED Certification.
