Shippensburg (D-II - PA): Shippensburg University is currently seeking qualified volunteer assistant candidates for the fall 2017 semester. The fall strength and conditioning program will run from August 7th (Start date flexible) to December 15th. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting with the supervision and execution of the strength and conditioning program for football, basketball & various Olympic sports, on floor coaching of student athletes, teaching student athletes safe and proper exercise technique, attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities and professional development throughout the semester. Volunteer Assistants will be assigned the lead of various sports teams and have the responsibility of designing and implementing a strength and conditioning program. This is an unpaid position however, the volunteers assistants will gain hands on coaching experience in a collegiate setting, education in program design and application, have the potential to earn future recommendations for career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable. Minimum Qualifications: Strong work ethic, punctuality, enthusiasm, Effective communication skills, Desire to become a strength and conditioning coach, Have attained a Bachelor’s degree not limited to but preferably in exercise science, kinesiology, exercise physiology or related field, First Aid, CPR & AED certified, Certified in at least one of the following: SCCC, CSCS and/or USAW. Preferred Qualifications: Pursuing or have attained a master’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, exercise physiology or related field, Previous coaching experience in a collegiate, professional or high school setting or competitive collegiate involvement, Pursuing or have attained other certifications: SCCC, CSCS, USAW, FMS, etc. , Knowledge of sports nutrition. Shippensburg University is a public university located in south-central, Pennsylvania about 40 miles southwest of Harrisburg, and 50 miles northwest of Westminster, Maryland. This position will be responsible for the leadership, oversight, management, programming, services and operations of a successful NCAA Division III sport performance and strength and conditioning program that serves and supports twenty-one intercollegiate teams. The incumbent will establish a unifying set of core training principles and standards for teaching and coaching.
