Sources tell FootballScoop that Nick Saban plans to promote Dan Enos to offensive coordinator for the 2019 season.
Enos currently holds the title of associate head coach and quarterbacks coach on Nick Saban's Alabama staff.
Prior to joining the Tide, Enos was the offensive coordinator at Arkansas under Bret Bielema for three seasons. Before joining Bielema, he was the head coach at Central Michigan for five seasons, where he put together a 26-36 record.
Earlier in his coaching journey, in addition to calling the offense for the Razorbacks, Enos has served as the offensive coordinator at North Dakota State (2003), D-II Missouri State (1999), D-II Northern Michigan (1996), and D-III Lakeland College (1994-95).
Alabama finds themselves with an offensive coordinator and play-caller opening for the fourth time in four seasons. First it was Lane Kiffin, who held the post for three seasons (2014-16) before leaving to become the head coach at Florida Atlantic. Then, Brian Daboll was brought in from the Patriots left after one season to become the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills. Then, this past season, Mike Locksley took the reins and won the Broyles Award before being announced as the new head coach at Maryland.
Enos is a really well regarded pro-style offense type of mind in a landscape where those type of guys are becoming harder and harder to find. In Enos, the Tide may return to the more traditional pro-style ground attack that churned out Heisman Trophy winners Derrick Henry and Mark Ingram, and that could look really interesting with Tua coming back for at least another year. However, with a year under his belt within this offense, Enos knows better than most where the strengths are and will undoubtedly fit the scheme to the players' talents.
