Kansas: Quick update in response to a number of questions... Given that Les signed his term sheet on the 16th and it was announced on the 18th; one would think a number of hires would be imminent. We understand Les Miles has had very preliminary discussions with a healthy number of former assistants; but sources tell us Les is being very deliberate (i.e. not getting the responses he thought he might get from potential first choices) in the vetting process. We hear his agent George Bass is now involved, performing a good amount of diligence on potential hires. Sources tell us money is available; but thus far Les hasn't found the right matches. Stay tuned...

Frank Giufre--Creating Pin and Pull Tags to Block Problematic Fronts:Because of the increasing presence of Bear fronts, the pin and pull concept has become a mainstay in several offensive play menus. What used to be a complement to inside and outside zone has now taken shape as a base play. At Northwestern its 50-60 percent of the run menu and at UCONN its accounted for over 20 percent of the Huskies’ run menu this season, which averaged over 199 yards per game. It gives offenses a chance to get on the perimeter quickly with bigger bodied offensive tackles. In an exclusive clinic report for X&O Labs, UCONN offensive line coach Frank Giufre (who was the assistant OL coach for the outside zone heavy Indianapolis Colts) reviews the tags he’ll use with the scheme to block various fronts and tells readers why the success of the Philadelphia Eagles changed his perception of the scheme. X&O Labs will release this report next Tuesday. Get this report delivered FREE directly to your email on Tuesday. Go here now.

Clark, who has coached defensive line at Illinois one season, previously spent 2016 & '17 on USC's staff working with the defensive line and linebackers. Prior to joining the SC staff for the '16 season, Clark spent one season as a recruiting assistant at Cal where he played defensive tackle.
