FAU: Lane Kiffin has hired former LSU receivers coach DJ McCarthy to coach receivers at FAU source tells FootballScoop. The Sun Sentinel was first to report the news. McCarthy recently served as director of player development at FAU and coached receivers for the Edmonton Eskimos this season.

North Carolina: Mack has reached agreement with North Carolina reports ESPN. #MackIsBack

Sacramento State (FCS): Head coach Jody Sears will not return, the school has announced. Sears was 20-35 during his five years leading the program, highlighted by a 7-4 finish and Big Sky co-coach of the year honors in 2017. The program finished 2-8 this season, including a 0-7 mark in Big Sky play.

SEC: Greg Sankey is calling the ADs from both Ole Miss and Mississippi State into the principal's office.

Western Kentucky: USC quarterbacks coach Bryan Ellis is expected to become Tyson Helton's offensive coordinator source tells FootballScoop. Ellis played under Neil Callaway at UAB and worked with Helton at WKU and USC. Bruce Feldman first reported the move.

UTSA: AD Lisa Campos sent out a note today confirming that Frank Wilson is being retained. The third year was a challenging one for Wilson's squad who notched 3 wins (Texas State, UTEP and Rice).

Auburn: Despite AD Allen Greene affirming Gus Malzahn will return in 2019, Josh Moon of Alabama Reporter reports there is a movement among AU powerbrokers to buy Malzahn out and hire a "top level" head coach, and that conversations with candidates began weeks ago. Barry Odom: Following a report by 24/7 yesterday that Barry Odom was in play for the Louisville job, Odom responded directly to Dave Matter who covers the program, "Zero interest in Louisville."

Broyles Award: Five finalists have been named for the Broyles Award.

Midland (NAIA - NE): Midland University is seeking passionate coaches, with great attention to detail, and an unrivaled work ethic to fill two graduate assistant position coaching roles, one on defense and one on offense, for the 2019 Season. Responsibilities include: running positional meetings, assisting with special teams, helping with weekly game plan, film breakdown, and data entry (HUDL), on/off campus recruiting, and other duties assigned by the Head Coach or Coordinator. Ideal candidates should have either one year of High School or College coaching experience. The Midland University Graduate Assistant position includes: free private school tuition, free apartment/housing, free meal plan, and a monthly stipend. Position is contingent on acceptance into Midland University Graduate School. Minorities are encouraged to apply. Start date is Mid-January or sooner. North Carolina: With Mack Brown's return to Chapel Hill all but official, Appalachian State head coach Scott Satterfield noted on the Sun Belt's teleconference that he "did not hear from UNC."

Texas Tech: Asked about the Texas Tech opening and his relationship to AD Kirby Hocutt, Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables, told the Charleston Post & Courier, “Just so people understand in where I’m at right now, my son, Jake, is here (at Clemson as a freshman linebacker). He’s chasing a dream. I sold that dream to him. My responsibility as a dad is to support him for as long as he wants to chase his dreams. Who am I to be a hypocrite, regardless of what opportunities are out there? That’s how I look at it.”

Ohio State: Asked today about his plans for 2019, Urban Meyer said, "I plan to coach."

Western Kentucky: Tyson Helton is set to become the new head coach at Western Kentucky.

North Dakota (FCS): Wide receivers coach Danny Freund has been promoted to offensive coordinator. Freund has just finished his eight season on staff and has also coached the running backs and quarterbacks since arriving on campus in 2011.

FAU: Wide receivers coach Gary Harrell will not have his contract renewed, according to multiple outlets.

Texas Tech: Kirk Bohls tweets that that Dana Holgorsen is not a candidate and "under no circumstances" will Texas Tech consider re-hiring Mike Leach. Leach himself agrees.

Jacksonville Jaguars: The Jags are firing offensive coordinator Nate Hackett source tells FootballScoop. Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter have both just reported the same.

Chowan (D-II - NC): Chowan University located in Murfreesboro, NC is looking to fill an open date in 2019. Open date as follows: Week 1 (9.7.2019). Western Kentucky: From last night, sources tell FootballScoop Tyson Helton is a strong candidate to become head coach at Western Kentucky.

Black Hills State University (D-II - SD): Black Hills State University has a graduate assistant coaching position beginning January 7, 2019. The position includes an $8000 stipend, camp bonus, reduced tuition and meal stipend. Responsibilities include coaching defensive line, running positional meetings, assisting with special teams, helping with weekly game plan, film breakdown and data entry (HUDL), recruiting, and other duties assigned by the head coach and athletic director. The ideal candidate would have a minimum 1 year DL coaching experience or collegiate DL playing experience. Candidates must be able to gain acceptance to graduate school.
