Maryland head coach Mike Locksley announced today that Ron Zook is joining his staff as senior analyst working with the defense and special teams.
Zook previously served as head coach of the Florida Gators (2002-04) and at Illinois (2005-11). Zook coached special teams five seasons with the Green Bay Packers through this past season but was not retained when Matt LaFleur was named head coach.
This Spring Zook coached with the Salt Lake franchise of the AAF.
Before his final game in Green Bay Zook said, "I’ve been in this business a long time. Obviously, I want to keep coaching if that allows me. But if it doesn’t, I’ll do something. I feel very comfortable with where I’m at in life and what I’m doing."
In Locksley's first season as head coach, the Terps open vs Howard August 31st.
