Ohio State and Texas staffers engaged in a recruiting Twitter battle... and it got personal

It started, as they all do, with a tweet.

Texas director of recruiting Bryan Carrington sent a tweet claiming all the best players in Texas wind up at the University of Texas. Pretty standard fare, really.

Ohio State quality control assistant Brian Hartline (a former Buckeye wideout) responded to Carrington and, well, it was off.

Ohio State assistant wide receivers coach Keenan Bailey hopped in with a tweet featuring current Buckeyes J.K. Dobbins, Baron Browning and Jeffrey Okudah, three 5-star Texans who signed with Ohio State in 2017.

Carrington punched back with a 1-2 upper cut.

What's the source of all this?

A recruit, naturally: Garrett Wilson, an Austin Lake Travis wide receiver who ranks as the No. 46 overall player in the 2019 class on the 247Sports Composite rankings. And Wilson just isn't any 4-star recruit. He is originally from Columbus, and his Lake Travis quarterback through this past season was Matthew Baldwin, a member of Ohio State's 2018 recruiting class.

As they always say, all's fair in love and recruiting.
