Colorado State head coach Mike Bobo, in his third season leading the program, has signed a three-year extension to keep him in Fort Collins. The new extension takes him through 2022.
The extension also includes a base salary increase to $1.8 million with annual increases of $100,000 through 2022. Bobo's original contract called for him to make $1.65 million in 2018, so that's a nice little pay bump.
Bobo has led the program to three straight bowl games, and they've also finished three straight years at 7-5 before dropping their bowl game. The Rams will face Marshall this weekend in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl for a shot at their first 8-win season, and first bowl win, under Bobo.
Overall, Bobo is 21-17, and 15-9 in Mountain West play.
Athletic director Joe Parker shared the following on Bobo in the school's release:
"Mike Bobo has developed a strong foundation for our football program," Parker said. "His leadership and focus on creating an environment where young people can grow in their academic and athletic pursuits is the essence of intercollegiate athletics. We have shared championship aspirations for our program and continuity is an extremely important element to chartering the path toward achieving those aspirations."
Before becoming the head coach at Colorado State, Bobo spent all but one year of his coaching career at Georgia. He started off in administration in 1998, was promoted to graduate assistant in 1999, and then left for his first college on-the-field job coaching the quarterbacks at FCS Jacksonville State in 2000. By 2001 he was back in Athens, coaching the quarterbacks until 2007, when he added the title of offensive coordinator, calling the shots for the Bulldogs on offense until leaving for Colorado State in 2015.
