Hard as it may to be remember now, but there was once a time when the Internet existed as an integral part of American culture and Facebook did not. But Facebook was eventually founded, grew, grew some more and is now a monster so large it would be impossible to imagine the Internet in 2017 without Facebook or a cheap knockoff. Along the way, Mark Zuckerberg became the John D. Rockefeller of the 21st century.
For those unfamiliar with the Facebook/Zuckerberg story, the trailer for this 2010 documentary provides an effective Cliff's Notes version.

Recently, Zuckerberg talked about questions he receives about the founding and growing of Facebook. While none of us here are going to create the next Facebook, the advice applies to coaching or any other life endeavor.
"Often, I think, people ask what mistakes you should avoid making," he said. "My answer to that question is: Don't even bother trying to avoid mistakes because you're going to make tons of mistakes. The important thing is actually learning quickly from whatever mistakes you make and not giving up.
"There are things every single year of Facebook's existence that could have killed us or made it so that it just seemed like moving forward and making a lot of progress just seemed intractable, but you bounce back and you learn. Nothing is impossible, you just have to keep running through the walls."
If you do invent the next Facebook, call me.
