Most coaches approach their swing through their respective media days trying to talk a lot while saying as little as possible. "Our guys are looking good." "We're in better shape than ever." "I really like our depth this year."
Not Larry Fedora.
Appearing at ACC media days, the North Carolina head coach used his turn at the podium to release his thesis statement on the game of football and, thus, America.
"There's no doubt in my mind," Fedora said. "I think, because of the lessons that you learn in the game of football relate to everything that's going to happen in the rest of your life. If we stop learning those lessons, we're going to struggle. In some ways, we're struggling more than we ever have. Are we ever going to be a perfect country? Nope. Not by any means. I do think the game of football has had a major impact on who we are as a country."
Fedora also said he believes kids should not play tackle football before middle school, but that it has not been proven the game causes CTE.
