2018 Changes
For the most part, Paul Chryst will return a staff largely intact. Outside linebackers coach Tim Tibesar (who, along with Dave Aranda won the 2015 FootballScoop Linebackers Coach of the Year Award) left to become the new defensive coordinator at Oregon State. That position remains open on staff as of today. We expect Chryst to hire from outside the staff to fill this role.
Chryst did make an internal promotion to coach the quarterbacks in former Badger quarterback turned graduate assistant, and then quality control assistant, Jon Budmayr.
Perhaps the most important staff move this off-season is the one that didn't happen, as Chryst was able to retain defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard who reportedly was a candidate for multiple other Power 5 defensive coordinator positions.
Tenth Assistant
The lone remaining position open on staff is working with the outside linebackers.
