A few weeks back, when Redskins head coach Jay Gruden was asked about being a possible landing spot for the most recent installment of HBO's Hard Knocks, he fired back with a joke about how his brother's team would be the perfect choice.
Well, Jay nailed it, because the hit all access series will be profiling Jon Gruden's Raiders next as the team was chosen over the 49ers, Giants, Lions and Redskins.
Via the Raiders release:
"If you’re a fan of football or great storytelling, HARD KNOCKS with the Oakland Raiders is going to be must-see television,” says Peter Nelson, executive vice president, HBO Sports. “We are so grateful to this storied franchise for opening up its doors and allowing HBO and NFL Films to spend the summer with the Raiders in what promises to be a compelling and engaging training camp.”
Much like last year with the Browns, there are a lot of interesting storylines cameras will love with the Raiders. In addition to Jon Gruden's personality, the Raiders also landed star receiver Antonio Brown this off season, as well as controversial players in linebacker Vontaze Burfict and offensive lineman Richie Incognito. The Raiders draft class including the likes of Johnathan Abrams and Clelin Ferrell will also make for good content.
“Everybody wants to be a Raider. Now they’ll find out what it takes to become one,” Mark Davis shared in the Raiders release.
The series is set to begin August 6th.
