Video: US Surgeon General delivers message to Alabama staff and players

There's no debate that when it comes to resources, Nick Saban and Alabama are in the top tier of college football.

A prime example of that was on display recently, as the Tide recently brought in US Surgeon General Jerome M. Adams to speak to the team virtually. With the COVID pandemic affecting every single person in the country in a unique way, Adams' message carried significant weight.

"My job is to inform the American public about health issues facing our country today, and what every one of us can do to stay safe and healthy."

Adams went on to reinforce the messaging we've heard time and time again over the last several months. He refers to them as the 3 W's. 1) Wash your hands. 2) Watch your distance (stay six feet away from others, and avoid crowded spaces, especially indoors), and 3) Wear a mask.

"I want to tell you, I've looked at your plans, and I want to tell you straight - you are very lucky to have the resources of the Alabama athletic department. Honestly, in my opinion, your risk in practice and with other players and coaches, based on everything that I've seen, is likely to be very low, and lower than what your risk would be if you were back home in your community, or even if you were just out on campus."

"Your coaches are going to take care of you and do the right things while you are practicing on the field, it's on you to make sure you are modeling good behavior off the field and are demanding it out of everyone around you."

Adams goes on to share how the people in that meeting room at Alabama have an opportunity to model the and influence the behaviors needed to stop the spread of COVID.
