Clark Lea's intro to being an SEC head coach has been interesting to say the least.
Originally named head coach 7 weeks ago, Lea has spoken with quite a few offensive coordinator candidates. For whatever reasons, Lea has struggled to find the right person for the job.
This evening, multiple reports emerged that Lea plans to hire David Raih as his first offensive coordinator at Vanderbilt. Matt Zenitz first reported the planned hire.
Raih was recently let go by the Arizona Cardinals where he served the past two seasons as receivers coach for Kliff Kingsbury.
Prior to joining Kingsbury's staff at Arizona, Raih had served as a coaching administrator, assistant offensive line coach, and eventually receivers coach for the Packers.
Pete Thamel mentioned that Lea first met Raih when Raih served as an intern at UCLA in 2009.
We're looking forward to hearing more about Raih's offensive plans in the coming days. Will update when more is available.
As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest coaching news.
Update> Pete Thamel is now reporting Joey Lynch (Colorado State OC) is also expected to join the staff as quarterbacks coach. Sources had told FootballScoop Lynch was likely to be the offensive coordinator. Fascinating structure by Lea.
