Loads, Edges and Downs" How Towson Transitions Between Even and Odd Looks: One of the challenges in being a multiple-front defense is packaging your call system so it can easily be communicated to your players. At Towson University (MD), defensive coordinator Darian Dulin groups his Even and Odd fronts into three specific terms- “Load” calls, “Edge” calls and “Down” calls. These terms alert first-level defenders to move (either pre-snap or post-snap) to or away from an indicator which can be adjusted during weekly game planning.
