Greg Stevens, OC, Southeastern Louisiana: “RB First” Isolation Progressions in Pass Game.Former LSU co-offensive coordinator Joe Brady became a household name mainly because of how his QB Joe Burrow was able to distribute the ball evenly to everyone in his system, including dishing 55 to Clyde Edwards-Hilaire, the most by a non-Mike Leach coached RB since 2016. Yet, 47 miles away on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University, offensive coordinator Greg Stevens knew he had something special too, and was scheming up ways to get star running back Davonte Williams the ball in space. So, he built an entire catalog of concepts where the back was the first progression in the route concept. The results yielded a 68 catch, 571 yard output for Williams in 2019. In an exclusive clinic report for X&O Labs, Coach Stevens details how he made the back the primary target in five of his base concepts. The Lions finished the 2019 season 2nd in total offense (484 ypg) and 2nd in passing offense (354 ypg) at the FCS level. X&O Labs will release this report next Tuesday to their 60,000 readers—and you can get it, too. Get this report sent your email next Tuesday: Go here to get on the list.
