Opposite Side Mesh Mechanics in Boundary RPOs: Boundary side reads in the RPO game are more efficient for two reasons: the route options are limited and so is this coverage. These two elements clean up the post-snap picture for the quarterback who can quickly identify the extra fitter and throw off him. Central College (IA) was 90% efficient in the RPO game, and the boundary menu was a big reason why- leaving one opposing coordinator to say “we didn’t have an answer for it.” Offensive coordinator Ryan Maiuri details for X&O Labs how he combined an opposite side mesh to influence the boundary safety and create more space in his RPO menu. Arnold previously coached the defensive backs at Ferris State (D-II - MI) and spent one season as the head coach at Benton Harbor (MI) before joining the Comstock Park staff.
