Jacksonville Jaguars: Tom McConnaughey, who has over three decades of scouting experience in the league, is retiring, per Neil Stratton. He spent 26 seasons with the Chargers before joining the Jags in 2021.
Atlanta Falcons: Tokunbo Abanikanda is the new director of college scouting, per Neil Stratton. He has been part of the organization since 2012, rising the ranks from scouting assistant to area scout to national scout. Also, Strattong adds that player personnel coordinator Brian Zeches is no longer with the team.
Texas Lutheran (D-III - TX): Texas Lutheran has an opening for a Restricted Coaching Position. Position is on offense - Coaching Wide Receivers. This position includes a Stipend but no Benefits. Coaches will assist with positional work, on campus recruiting, and other duties assigned by the Head Coach. Western Illinois (FCS): Western Illinois has openings for Special Teams QC & Defensive QC positions. These are strictly VOLUNTEER positions; there is NO compensation, housing OR benefits with occasional meals. There are multiple previous Quality Control coaches on full time NCAA staffs. Ideal candidates must be highly organized, proficient in DVsport, Microsoft Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint and other computer skills. Previous experience coaching or playing is preferred. Missouri State (FCS): Missouri State will join Conference USA in 2025, becoming FBS's 136th member.
Castleton (D-III - VT): Tony Volpone has decided to step down after a decade leading the program, as Castleton becomes the second Division III school to undergo a coaching change this week.
Detroit Lions: Head coach Dan Campbell will not attend the team's rookie minicamp this weekend, per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, who adds that Campbell will be absent for personal reasons and is expected to be back with the team later this month.
Dakota Wesleyan (NAIA - SD): Dakota Wesleyan University, a member of the Great Plains Intercollegiate Conference in Mitchell, SD, is seeking applicants for a Grad Assistant (best fit) for the upcoming season. The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to, coaching their own position group, having their own recruiting territory, and helping with Special Teams, along with any other duties designated by the Head Coach or respective Coordinator. GA’s will receive a monthly stipend, 2/3rd graduate tuition paid for, and an on-campus meal plan. Housing will NOT be provided. There is an potential to apply for low-rent housing close to campus. Applicant must be accepted into a DWU graduate program and enrolled for Fall 2024 classes. Applicants need to email resume and references to alex.kretzschmar@dwu.edu . Hope (D-III - MI): After a year as a student assistant, Hope College is promoting Cal Pimpleton to defensive line coach. A Hope grad, Pimpleton was a two-year letterman for the program.
Clemson: Dabo and the Tigers are reportedly adding a former SEC defensive coordinator to the staff.
Colgate (FCS - NY): James Groce has been announced as the defensive line coach. He spent the last five seasons on staff at Marist (FCS - NY).
USC: USC is reportedly set to bring a former NFL offensive coordinator aboard to bolster its defensive staff.
Mater Dei (CA): Supporters for former head coach Frank McManus, who was dismissed after winning the state title in his first and only season leading the program, have united with a petition to reinstate the longtime Mater Dei coach.
