Tennessee: University of Tennessee is accepting applications for VOLUNTEER sports science interns to contribute to the Football Strength & Conditioning Program for the 2024 Spring Semester. This is an UNPAID opportunity that provides experience assisting the Sports Science Staff with the implementation of comprehensive, sport-specific, injury prevention and performance enhancement training programs. In addition to daily responsibilities, this internship includes a professional development curriculum. The goal of this internship is to develop highly effective sports science coaches who are job ready. This internship is expected to begin January 22nd to May 15th, 2024. Prospective candidates must possess a desire to become a sports science professional, strong character, and demonstrate effective organization and communication skills. Required qualifications include achievement or current pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related course of study. Sacramento State: Sacramento State Sports Performance Internship is looking for interns Spring 2024: Jan 18 - May 17. Seeking hard-working individuals with a passion to pursue a collegiate strength and conditioning career. This is an unpaid volunteer position working with both football and Olympic sports. Primary duties include set-up and maintenance of weight rooms, stocking and maintenance of refuel stations, and assistance with the coordination of athlete training sessions. Interns will complete a written curriculum and gain wide exposure to sports performance as a whole, including program design, recovery, and speed/conditioning planning. Interns will also be exposed to a variety of sports science technology, including Catapult, Kinexon, Vauld ForceDecks, Plyomat, Tendo and more. Candidates should hold or be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or a related field and should hold or be pursuing certification through the NSCA/CSCCa. Liberty: The Liberty University Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for the positions of VOLUNTEER INTERN for Spring Semester of 2024. DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES will include but are not limited to assisting in the implementation of the Strength and Conditioning programs; set up and break down for daily activities, routine maintenance and cleaning of the training facilities, and participation in the internship curriculum. NO MONETARY COMPENSATION, HOUSING, OR TRANSPORTATION will be provided, however, Interns will receive experience working in a Division 1 training environment and have the opportunity to earn recommendations for future career opportunities and/or receive college credit if applicable. The Intern’s level of ambition will determine the level of the learning experience. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a strong work ethic and have a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Interns are expected to be punctual, enthusiastic, reliable, productive and consistent along with having the financial capability to hold the position for the duration of the internship. Ideal candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree or be in the last semester of coursework earning and undergraduate degree in exercise science or related field of study. Certification from one or more of the following (NSCA, CSCS; CSCCa, SCCC; USAW) is preferred but not required. Jenison HS (MI): The Jenison High School Strength & Performance Department, located in Jenison, Michigan, is actively seeking applicants for two paid summer intern positions working with our Junior High and High School student-athletes. This position will begin on May 20th, 2024 and conclude on July 26th, 2024. This is a ten-week commitment. Our summer schedule consists of training 7th-12th grade student-athletes Monday- Thursday from 6:00am-2:00pm. Your responsibilities will include: implementation of all aspects of strength & performance programs (must be confident and proficient coaching strength training, Olympic lifting, plyometric, linear speed, and multi-directional speed movements), set-up/breakdown/general maintenance of the weight room and field, data collection/organization/entry, and education and implementation of training standards. What you get: experience coaching large groups of athletes to grow your coaching skills for the next step in your career, experience with GPS and sprint timing systems, $5,000, and Jenison Strength Gear. No housing or meals will be provided. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, CSCS, proficiency with Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint. Previous team/group coaching experience is highly preferred as you will be coaching your own groups. We are searching for candidates who have a desire to make a career out of strength and conditioning and are driven to be the best coach that they can become.
