It's been quite the past few months for RJ Fleming, but the young coach's collegiate career continues to evolve.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Fleming is headed to the Mid-American Conference to serve as the Rockets' wide receivers' coach.
A former standout-player in college at Arkansas State University, Fleming also recently had been in an off-the-field role for Hugh Freeze's inaugural Auburn University staff.
Fleming previously had worked with Freeze at Liberty University, and additionally Fleming had Football Bowls Subdivision coaching experience at Eastern Michigan.
When Deion Sanders bolted Jackson State for the top job at the University of Colorado last December, Fleming had been part of new Tigers' head coach TC Taylor's JSU staff before garnering the SEC opportunity in an analyst role at Auburn.
Candle led Toledo to something of a Renaissance season in 2022, when he guided the program to a nine-win season that was punctuated by back-to-back wins to close the season with the MAC Championship and a bowl win against Liberty.
Candle then again emerged as a prime target for multiple Power 5 offensive coordinator positions and gained traction for some head coaching posts before he garnered a new contract at Toledo.
The Rockets are slated to open their 2023 season at Big Ten program Illinois.
