Sources: Vols staffer Kody Cook leaving for spot at Old Dominion (Kody Cook)

Kody Cook, who played collegiately at Kansas State and since has been climbing through the coaching ranks, is exiting Rocky Top for an on-field position at Old Dominion, sources tell FootballScoop.

Cook, who's been in an offensive analyst-type role inside Josh Heupel's Tennessee program, has accepted the wide receivers coaching position at Old Dominion, sources told FootballScoop.

At ODU, Cook is set to replace JJ Laster after Laster was hired away from the Monarchs within the past week by Pat Narduzzi and Pittsburgh.

The versatile Cook played a variety of positions during his career at Kansas State, focusing mostly at wideout but also spending time in the offensive backfield at quarterback and even as a running back.

He's been a full-time assistant coach as well, having previously served as the wideouts coach at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas, one of the sport's more consistent producers of high-level NCAA prospects.

Cook will hep Old Dominion face a familiar foe in its 2024 opener; the Monarchs play at Shane Beamer's South Carolina Gamecocks Aug. 31.
