Sources: Tennessee losing offensive assistant to join Jerry Mack's Kennesaw State program (Mitch Militello)

Jerry Mack, an FBS head coach for the first time after being hired away from the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars to run the Kennesaw State program, is making a key hire, sources tell FootballScoop.

Mack is set to pluck Tennessee offensive staffer Mitch Militello away from Rocky Top to become Kennesaw State's offensive coordinator.

Since arriving at Tennessee in 2021, Militello has worked closely with the Vols's dynamic offense, learning under head coach Josh Heupel and offensive coordinators Alex Golesh and Joel Halzle along the way.

Specifically, Militello has worked with Tennessee's quarterbacks.

He's been with Heupel for several seasons, first working with him at the University of Missouri and then also serving on staff for Heupel at Central Florida.

The Kennesaw State opportunity is not only a chance to reunite with the up-and-coming Mack but also the chance to become an offensive play-caller.
